These pieces invite the viewer to explore a vibrant and evolving cityscape; a forest of columns evokes the urban environment, they stretch vertically above the viewer to suggest continual growth.
These studies on paper were initially made to inform very large paintings on canvas but have become some of my favourite works in their own right. Playing with the consistency of oil glazes has allowed me to achieve a delicate luminosity normally associated with inks and polymers whilst retaining the richness of oil paint. Subtle grades and loosely defined edges add to the geometric perspectives employed to pull you in. I hope they do…
